Checking the Beach

Shanae let out a small squeal and rubbed the dog's head affectionally with another wide smile. The smoke didn't bother her one bit since she was slightly used to it, but she didn't use them. It made her lungs hurt.

"Likewise with sports, math, english lit., and chemistry," she recited absent-mindedly as she continued to admire the dog. She would've gotten Kain but he was still busy getting away from Ally, who wanted to paint his nails. "You?"

Lauren wrinkled up her nose slightly, wondering if she would really get along with these girls. They both seemed very sporty and apparently both liked english, two things Lauren was not fond of at all. Although the one girl did like chemistry, which gave her a spark of home.
"Physics, Chemistry, Maths." Lauren laughed. "Despite the get up I'm a total science nerd, can't get enough of it. Sadly I'm not much one for english really, or sports for obvious reasons..."
She lifted her hand with the cigarette in, trying to keep it away from the other two. She might not really care all that much what people thought of her, but she still had manners and she knew not everyone was addicted to nicotine. Plus, all that science meant she knew exactly what her cigarette smoke could do to others as well as herself.
"Hopefully my band will get it's act together and get a few gigs this year though." She smiled, picturing that mic she could almost afford again. "You two much into live music?"

[Lexie]

Jocky smiled. "Oh yes, I listen to music a lot...especially CD's by Haley Scott. I know it's old, but it works for me. There's always Rascall Flatts," she said, before turning red. "Yeah..those kinds of songs."

She was about to shut up when an idea popped into mind. 'Have you tired recording your stuff at Sawyer's?" she asked.

"I like all kinds, doesn't matter really, as long as it's music," Shanae grinned at the two girls. Her first friend and her second. She felt a surge of happiness in her.

"What's a Sawyer?" she asked, innocently

[Lexie]

"It's a recording studio," replied Jocky. "Every year they pick five great and potential kids and they record their songs, then they kinda get the album on the market to see if it'll sell. Usually, the performers get to go to Tric too, the ever-famous bar around town," she explained, knowing that the two might not know anything much about Tree Hill yet.

That caught Shanae's attention. "Really? They have a studio here? Wow," she whispered the last word as she straightened herself back to her up right position.
"I would love to hear you play Lauz, what do you play?" she asked Lauz with interest.

[Lexie]

Jocky smiled. "Yeah, there really is a studio, one that has a great tie up in LA studios." She then looked at Lauren. "Yeah, Lauz, what kind of music is to your liking?" she asked, as a follow up question to Shanae's.

"I'm the vocalist." Lauren grinned. "I play a little bit of guitar too, but honestly we could do with a new guitar player."
She turned to Jocky and shrugged.
"We were going to but nothing really came of it. To be honest we could all do with a lot more practice, and probably a couple of new members, before we'd really be able to do ourselves justice in a recording studio. But you two should come check the band out some time, it's mostly punk rock. A lot of Clash songs and stuff like that, but we try to play softer stuff from time to time." She replied. "Don't know how much you'd like it, but its always worth a try yeah? And if you see anyone who looks like they'd fit in my band send them to me."

"I know how to play the guitar," Shanae gave a small shrug as she smiled at Lauz. "I can fill that position if you want me to," she offered, since this was a new thing for her. Being in a band in a new place was good way to start.
She was good at it but she always doubted her ability which her friends say was awesome.

[Lexie]

Jocky thought for a moment. "Even if you didn't have a recording thing, I'm sure Tric would let you play just the same.
She smiled. "I can't wait to hear you play. There are fewer and fewer bands that spring out from Tree Hill every year. Fresh talent is always a good change! When do you usually practice?" she asked.

Lauz turned and grinned at Shanae, nodding her head. "That would be fantastic. You'll have to go through an audition first of course but I'm sure you'll do great. Especially if you can pick up songs fairly quickly." She grinned at the two girls. "We practice on a kind of two week rotation, friday night one week, saturday night the next, but it's flexible. That way we don't miss out on any parties and we can practice around work and previous commitments. Plus, when everyone has some free time we'll get together and jam. It depends on people's schedules."

"Figured," Shanae chuckled as she listened to what Lauz said.
The schedule was fair and very convenient except if you had been given detention. "That sounds fair," she nodded her head.
"How about you Jocky, do you play anything?" Shanae turned to Jocky since she hasn't said a word about playing an instruments.

[Lexie]

"Naw!" exclaimed Jocky, laughing heartily as she did. "If I did, cats would run screaming and dogs would howl." She winked at Shanae. "Oh please take all musical things from me. Though I do a lot of watching people on stage. that's all I can do as of now...and maybe forever!"

Shanae laughed at Jocky's words. "You couldn't possibly mean that!" she said, "that's just exaggerating!" Shanae added through her laugh. "No one can be that bad"

[Lexie]

"Try me!" she challenged. Just then, Edger started to growl excessively. "Edger!" she scolded at her dog. Edger looked up, stop growling for a bit, then went back to doing so. Jocky turned to Lauren. 'I'm sorry for Edger's manners," she said, apologizing for her rather angry Labrador.
