The day had started out as a headache for Kindal, making the only viable option for the day to be one of getting out. Her parents couldn't seem to get over the problems that brought them to Tree Hill, but she was determined to seperate herself from it. And why shouldn't she? The day was beautiful and she'd seen that the pool had opened for the season.
Grabbing her bag and slipping on her pink flip-flops, she hurried out of the door before she could be caught. The air was peaceful as she walked down the street, letting herself in through the gate. The screams of children playing filled her ears and she felt this was the perfect place to feel content.
Finding an empty chair, she stripped down to her white two piece swimsuit, pulling her oversized sunglasses from the top of her head down over her eyes. With her dark hair tied back in a messy ponytail, she settled in with a book, planning to tan for a bit before jumping into the cool, clear water.

It was a wonder how Jocky could find herself alone, away from Edger too. James had taken him ou for a walk, which was pretty much a delight for Jocky. She had been wanting a time to herself, without Edger or her friends for once. Knowing that her schoolmates would probably be scoping out the new trends for summer right about now, Jocky headed to the pool.
It wasn't long before she found a girl, about her age maybe. She was astonished how more and more people came to Tree Hill. It was only yesterday that she met a new girl.
Wanting to be known as the welcome-wagon, she strode over to the girl. "Hi," she greeted with a rather big smile.

Kindal quickly became entranced by the book spread out on her lap. If only her life could be that simply, the love of her parents like what the characters had. She was completely oblivious to the playful shouts and splashes of the children in the water; hell, she didn't even notice the lifeguard as he walked by, which was unusual. Normally, she would have been strutting around the pool, doing whatever she could to catch his attention. Today must have been an off day, not to mention that she was new to Tree Hill.
Slightly startled by a voice, she looked up through the dark lens of her sunglasses to see someone was talking to her. Glancing around stupidly to make sure the girl really was speaking to her, she gingerly closed the cover of her book and sat up on the lounge chair. She took a quick second to study the girl, thinking she must be around her age.
"Hi," she replied, smiling slightly, not exactly feeling the bubbly personality this girl was. "I'm Kindal. We just moved to Tree Hill."

Jocky noticed her rather uninterested reply, but knew what it felt like to be in a new place and start all over again. She and her cousin, who moved to New York, talked about it a lot and for the first few weeks, her cousin was simply devastated and unwilling to do anything the locals do. But she got over it.
Feeling a bit friendly the particular day, Jocky replied, "I'm Jocky. Welcome to Tree Hill. How're you finding it so far?" she asked in a jolly tone as it could get,

Wondering if this girl was always this chipper, she simply shrugged. "It's okay, I guess. I really haven't seen much of it since we just moved here. It's definatly a different world than what I'm used to, that's for sure." The book was quickly discarded beside her, knowing that she was happy to be talking to someone, regardless of how different from her that someone appeared.
Jeeze, what would the girls back home say about this? That was just it, the girls from home weren't here. She was and she had to make the best of it. Besides, school hadn't started yet, so she wasn't in any situation to be picky.
"Have you always lived here?" she asked curiously, moving her sunglasses from the bridge of her nose back to the top of her head so she could see Jocky clearly. "It seems really small. Please tell me there's something to do around here."

Jocky had been meaning to frown. It didn't mean if someone came from another place that could be more fun than Tree Hill, which Jocky doubted it could be, they had to belittle the small town. It was a nice community, better some others who didn't know half of the people who lived there.
"There's plenty to do," said Jocky, rather defensive of her hometown. "Lived here all my life and has never been bored."

Laughing, Kindal shook her head. "I didn't mean anything by it. We moved here from St. Louis, so I'm sure you can imagine how different it would be." Tucking a loose strand of her dark hair that had fallen out of her ponytail behind her ear, she glanced around, squinting in the bright sunlight. "What all is there to do? I mean, other than hitting the pool, the beach, or the mall."

Jocky, who loved sports, had to mention it. "There's River Court if you love to play ball," she started, "Then a movie Theater not too far from here. There's always Tric, usually opens up by 6pm and everybody has a great time there."
It might have been simple living, but it was the best one she'd had.

Her ears perked up at the mention of River Court. Back home, she'd loved to play basketball and softball, having done so since she was little.
"Tric? Is that the club? How old do you have to be to get in?" Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad. It did sound like there was quite a bit to do.

"Everyone's allowed," replied Jocky. It was good that she was getting the girl's attention. She wouldn't want anyone to think bad of Tree Hill, not when she loved the place more than she did New York when she took a trip there. "There's a tag though, for minors, so that they don't get to drink at the bar. But everyone can get in."

Skye walked onto the patio, wondering how people could call this weather hot. She was used to the heavy humidity of a Florida summer and this, she looked at the blue sky with a slight twist of her lips, was not her idea of heat.
Her body was clad in a bikini of an deep red, showing off her florida tan in all its glory, a pair of sunglasses hung from her fingers as she dropped a towel onto a spare lounger and opened her bag for sun cream. It may not be as hot as the Florida beaches, but it was still warm.
Skye glanced over the poolside, her eyes running over the small groups of people talking and laughing and she bowed her head, spreading the cream onto her skin.

It was Jocky who turned back in time to spot Skye. She couldn't tell whether or not she knew the girl...but it was hard nowadays since more and more newcomers were in Tree Hill.
"Hey there!" Jocky called out, waving her hand int he air.

"Hey!" Skye glanced up to see the girl and returned the wave. "How's it going?" Despite her dislike for the move, Skye didn't want to go through her time here being unfriendly.

"Good," Jocky replied. "I haven't seen you around here. Are you new too?" she asked, giving Skye one of her brightest smiles. "Oh, by the way, I'm Jocky."
